Perfect Props

Babes in Arms

Theatre > Musicals

Three pairs of identical articulated legs were needed for a performance of Babes in Arms at the Chichester Theatre.
The legs were to be held from a handle in the thigh, and swung from behind a curtain to emulate dancing kicks. Because of this, the foot had to move realistically, and needed to provide enough momentum and force to swing the knee joint
Sounds easy? It took a lot of trial and error to get them looking realistic. Theory is all very well, but sometimes in reality, props don't always do what they're supposed to.
